ABOUT ME

Jasmine Brooks, M. Ed., founder of JMB Advising, is a proud educator both professionally and personally. Gaining experience during her undergraduate experience at the University of Michigan as a Residence Advisor, Residence Coordinator, and Academic Success Partner to freshmen and sophomore students, Jasmine has been advising and guiding others in their decisions towards success since 2010.

Having begun her career as a first-grade teacher in 2012, she transitioned to working with high school students as the college success counselor in Southwest Detroit in 2014 at Voyageur College Prep. Since then, she has served as the National Honor Society Advisor, Dean of Students and Dean of College Success, with a primary focus on the matriculation and graduation rate of high school students into post-secondary institutions. Under her leadership, her school was the recipient of the 2018 and 2019 Get Schooled Grant, receiving $2000 towards her school’s college-going culture. She was also recognized by her school with the Inaugural Marina Award: Changing School Systems and Culture under the Michigan College Access Network program, in which her school’s college program was the first to be recognized for their advancements in their college-going culture.

In her community, Jasmine previously worked with the S.A.Y. PLAY Detroit Center’s Knowledge for College program as an instructor for their summer internship program, which also partnered with Grow Detroit’s Young Talent (GDYT) from 2016-2018. Within this program, she helped coordinate and execute college and university tours (both local and out of state), student panels at each of the college visits, and developed projects and presentations to help the students develop interpersonal skills.

Before beginning her career as an educator, Jasmine was heavily involved in her community coaching competitive cheer with the Think Detroit PAL, Detroit Broncos Cheer Team from 2006-2014. As a former coach to hundreds of young ladies, she has since advised many of her former cheerleaders and their families one-on-one with scholarship opportunities, recommendation letters, and resume workshops as they completed their junior and senior years of high school.

Your family is in great and knowledgeable hands when you hire JMB Advising to work with you!
